From Titian to Rubens. Masterpieces from Antwerp and other Flemish Collections

Michaelina Wautier (1617 - 1689), Portrait of Two Girls like Saint Agnes and Saint Dorotea, About 1655, Oil con canvas, Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) | © KMSKA - Art in Flanders | Ph: Hugo Maertens

The exhibition organized by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, together with the City of Antwerp, VisitFlanders and the Flemish Community, which transformed the sumptuous apartments of the Doge into spectacular 'constkamers', rooms enriched with precious works of art from the most prestigious Flemish collections, builds a bridge between cultures, through space and time. Together with masterpieces by Tiziano, Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck and Michiel Sweerts, among which there are three icons of Venetian painting with the occasion returned home, such as Jacopo Pesaro presented to St. Peter by Pope Alexander VI and the Portrait of a Lady and his Daughter by Titian and the Altarpiece from the former Church of San Geminiano, commonly known as the "David Bowie's Tintoretto", the exhibition curated by Ben Van Beneden, director of the Rubenshuis of Antwerp, leads in Italy a remarkable variety of masterpieces belonging to the Flemish collections, both public and private, rarely loaned, some of which are shown to the public for the first time.
